The Break

It's been almost 48 hours since we last saw some tourney action. And it will be another 48 until it resumes. Too long, my friends.

Things of note...

The bracket with most correct picks in round 1 was Abbey Wilson's bracket. She chose 26 out of 32 games correctly (82%).

Only Emily Diamond lost a Final Four pick on day 2 (Morgan St.).

No one who was in the top 10 after day 1 dropped out of the top 10 after day 2.

Emily Diamond climbed the highest in the rankings (12 spots), while Cara Busch dropped the farthest in the rankings (11 spots).

Standings After Day 1

Total Points in parentheses (51 possible) 1. Keith Frank (34) 2. New Baby Wilson (33) 3. Will Dominguez (31) 4. Lee Wilson (27) 5. Clark Terry (26) 6. Matt Foster (25) 7. Matt Pugh (24) 8. Bridget Terry (23) 9. Abbey Wilson (22) 10. Logan Gentry (20) 11. Kelley Sawyer (18) 12. Cara Busch (16) 13. Natalie Corley (14) 13. Rebecca Pugh (14) 13. Sarah Pugh (14) 13. Beth Wilson (14) 17. Kurt Corley (9) 25. David Pugh (9) 27. Emily Diamond (8) 27. Nancilea Foster (8) 27. Susan Money (8) 30. Sarah Nichols (7)

Some things to note...

Only 2 brackets correctly picked the biggest upset of the day - Ohio over Georgetown (New Baby Wilson and Will Dominguez). That pick alone earned them more points (12) than 9 of the brackets have total.

Keith Frank picked the most upsets correctly (5).

Lee Wilson and Beth Wilson each picked the most total games correctly (12 of 16).

No one's National Champion pick was eliminated yesterday, however Abbey Wilson, Matt Pugh, Clark Terry, and Lee Wilson each lost a Final Four pick (Georgetown).

The last place bracket (Sarah Nichols) can still statistically beat the first place bracket (Keith Frank), so this is still anyone's game!!!

Wow

If the first three games are any indication of the rest of this tournament, then it's gonna be amazing!

Opening Day Stats

Now that the games have begun (an 7/10 upset [?] is brewing right now - florida over BYU), I figured I'd post some statistics.

With 24 brackets reporting, Kansas is the overwhelming favorite to win it all (11 votes for national champion), with Kentucky a fairly close second (8 votes for national champion).

Putting all your picks together, the Final Four would be Kansas (21 final four votes), Kentucky (16 final four votes), Duke (16 final four votes), and Kansas St. (12 final four votes).

Syracuse is on the outside looking in with 7 final four votes.

Lovin' it!
